Vision 2022 - Watch Me Manifest Everything I Want!
"There is always light, if only we're brave enough to see it. If only we're brave enough to be it."Amanda Gorman
For the past six years, my sister, a few friends, and I have gotten together after Christmas to create our vision boards for the new year. It’s become a tradition and an event we look forward to every year. We usually show up in our pajamas, but nonetheless, it still becomes a party. We enjoy good food, drinks, indulge in sweet treats, play good music and laugh a whole lot. Then with full tummies and beverages by our side, start the process. We’ve never allowed anything to get in the way of our annual gathering. Even a global pandemic couldn’t keep us from enjoying this experience. Last year, instead of gathering in person, we hosted a virtual workshop. We have a no-excuses policy regarding our vision board parties. They are mandatory.
We did something a little different this year before taking our seats to create our boards. We included a ceremony to let go of the burdens and negativity from 2021 and make room for the abundance 2022 will bring. First, we cleansed our space to get rid of all the bad energy by burning Sage and Palo Santo. Second, we lit a candle meant for Healing, and we each set an intention for the upcoming year. Lastly, we each poured a drop of Gratitude and Envision essential oils (all by Young Living) in our hands, rubbed them together, and cupped them over our noses. We took a few deep breaths and then rubbed our hands over our hearts. This allowed us to recognize what we are grateful for while envisioning what we wanted in our futures. We then poured a few drops of Abundance essential oil around the table to invite good energy into our space. Once our ritual was complete, we sat around the table and got to work.
If you’ve never created a vision board, you are in for a real treat. A vision board allows you to preserve all the excitement and motivation we feel as we get closer to a new year. It is a visual representation of your dreams and aspirations. A vision board will help you visualize what you want to manifest and aspire to achieve. For us, many of our dreams and aspirations have become a reality throughout the years. The current home I live in was manifested in one of my vision boards from the past. You’ll find that sometimes your goals don’t come to fruition right away because you have to see them and nurture them into existence; that is what a vision board helps you do. I have to note that when we first started to create vision boards, we added images of many material items. As the years progressed, we began to step away from the material. Instead, we focus more on finding visuals that represent who we are at that moment and who we want to be. Our goals revolve around long-term achievements not just for us but also for our families.
If you are ready to create a vision board, check out our how-to guide and tips to make the most of your board below.
TIP: My sister Maribel says she looks back and reflects on her previous year and acknowledges all the good she was able to accomplish. Then she sets new goals and gets started.
GETTING STARTED
SUPPLIES
Posterboard or cardboard
Glue Sticks
Scissors
Magazines that focus on various topics and are heavy on photos.
HOW-TO
Set the date and time to create your board. In our experience, the process takes approximately 3-4 hours to complete. Do your best to finish your board during this time. If you don’t, you might have a board that is left incomplete, and you could lose sight of what you want.
Set the mood for inspiration. Light a candle, pour yourself a glass of wine (or drink of choice), and play your favorite playlist.
Set your intention and start looking through the magazines. Seek out the images that speak to you and critical words. Every year I set a word or phrase of meaning for my board. For example, in 2021, I intended to “Be Brave.” This year it’s “Healing.” When I have my intention in mind, I find it easier to seek images aligned with my purpose. When I see pictures or words that speak to me, I cut out the page or section and set it aside. I do this until I feel I have enough to create my board.
Once I have enough pages, I cut out the images and set them in sections. For example, anything related to travel I put in one area, career in another, etc. When this is complete, take a break. Pour yourself another glass of wine or walk away for a bit. When you return to your materials, you will be ready to arrange your board.
Begin arranging your photos but don’t glue them on your board just yet. This is the time to reflect on the images you chose and get rid of those that won’t serve you. I like to arrange my board in sections. Anything related to life (i.e., travel, home, family, etc.) I place on the right side of my board. In the center, I like to directly arrange critical phrases and images that align with my intention. I put anything related to my career, side hustles, and interests (such as fashion and beauty) on the left of my board.
Once I’m happy with the way my board is arranged, I move on to the final step. I start gluing. It’s exciting to see your vision board come to life. I move a bit slow during this step because I like to reflect on each section before moving on to the other. I visualize my goals coming to life as I am gluing them on my board.
Once complete, put your board where you can regularly see it. My friends and I keep ours in our closet. Every day that we open our closet door, we see the board. Seeing it daily helps you keep your goals fresh in your mind. When we start the new year, we feel all the positive buzz that comes with new beginnings, but as we settle into the year and life happens, it’s easy to forget and feel less motivated. Having the board in front of you will remind you that there is always room to achieve your goals no matter what life throws at you.
TIP: Cindy says to not stress, make it a fun process. As you start achieving things on your vision board, check them off; that way, you could continuously tap yourself on the back because you are achieving your goals.
It’s never too early or late in the year to create a vision board. I hope you give yourself this gift and allow yourself to manifest your wildest dreams. You deserve it, Mamacita.
